Safety Planning and Lethal Means Safety Counseling PMI May 6th, 2026: 1:00pm - 5:15pm ET


This 4-hour training course provides an in depth overview of safety planning and lethal means safety counseling for veterans who are at elevated risk. Participants will begin the training learning about suicide prevalence rates for various veteran populations. Learners will examine both the risk and protective factors for veteran groups that are at elevated risk for suicide. The training will also introduce key theories that will provide a framework for understanding and applying clinical intervention for suicide risk. Additionally, participants will learn the rationale and steps for collaboratively developing a safety plan and reducing access to lethal means. Through case examples, discussion and break outs, participants will apply the steps of effective safety planning and lethal means safety planning.

CE Information

CEs for the 2026 EBP Conference have not been internally verified yet, but we expect to be able to offer 4 CE credits.

CDP is approved to provide CEs from American Psychological Association (APA), Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), and New York State Education Department State Board for Psychology and Social Work provider approval.
