Description

 

Discrimination, racism, and oppression are embedded in our nation’s history and, unfortunately continue to be seen and felt in our present society as well. Youth, like the rest of us, are impacted by what they see, hear, read, and experience. The impact of racial trauma can have lasting effects on youth if not addressed. In this presentation, we will discuss ways to identify signs of racial trauma in youth as well as strategies to alleviate the impact of racial trauma.

  2. Distinguish key signs of racial trauma in youth and share tools for assessing racial trauma

Christi Culpepper Related Seminars and Products


Dr. Christi Culpepper, affectionately known as Dr. CC, is a licensed clinical psychologist and professional speaker currently providing therapeutic services to children, adolescents, and their families at Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. CC utilizes a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and family systems approaches to address concerns such as anxiety, depression, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and family concerns. Dr. CC also provides presentations, training, and workshops to providers and members of the community. Some of her topics include self-care for mental health providers, the impact of mental health on overall functioning, provider burnout, and the importance of being your authentic self.


Jamila Ray Related Seminars and Products


Dr. Jamila Ray is a psychologist working with youth and families at Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Child and Family Therapy Clinic. She provides therapy for children and teens to maximize their functioning at school, home, community, and with their peers. She also leads groups to support teens and their caregivers to manage racial trauma and LGBTQIA-related stressors.
