David E. Wilmot, MD, FAAFP has served as the CEO for Premier Medical Consulting, LLC since 2017. His primary focus is to assist organizations in quality assurance/process improvement, population management, and healthcare IT, primarily in the Military and Federal Healthcare sectors.
Wilmot retired as a Major General from the Army National Guard in July, 2017. His final assignment was Joint Surgeon for the National Guard Bureau, Deputy Surgeon General for Army National Guard Affairs, Department of the Army, and Assistant Surgeon General for Quality and Safety, Office of the Army Surgeon General. Prior to this assignment, MG Wilmot was the U.S. Army's Assistant Surgeon General for Mobilization, Readiness and National Guard Affairs and U.S. Army MEDCOM Deputy Chief of Staff for Readiness. He served overseas in Bosnia and Iraq and also Commanded Task Force Medical in Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina. His other previous military positions included Indiana Army National Guard State Surgeon, Commander of the Indiana Medical Detachment, and 38th Infantry Division Surgeon.
Dr. Wilmot’s civilian experience includes over 20 years in clinical Family Medicine, nearly 20 years of experience as a Medical Director in two extended care facilities, and three years as a State Medical Director for Optum Complex Patient Management in Indiana.
Wilmot received his B.S. degree in Biology and Chemistry from Indiana Wesleyan University He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1989. He then completed his residency in Family Practice at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1992 and was awarded the Degree of Fellow by the American Academy of Family Physicians in 2002. He is currently certified by the American Board of Family Physicians. He also completed a Masters of Strategic Studies at the U.S. Army War College in 2010.
