Suzannah K. Creech, Ph.D., M.S.
Dr. Creech holds a joint appointment as an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Dell Medical School and as a Research Psychologist in the Behavioral Sciences Core at the VHA VISN 17 Center of Excellence for Research on Returning War Veterans/Central Texas Veterans Healthcare System.
Dr. Creech received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Texas A&M University and her BA in psychology (with special honors) from the University of Texas at Austin. She completed a specialty clinical psychology residency in PTSD/Women’s Issues at the Medical College of Georgia/Augusta VA followed by a two-year advanced fellowship in PTSD treatment at the Brown Psychology Training Consortium. She then completed a second fellowship in clinical research at the VA Boston Health Care System prior to joining the faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at Brown Medical School and the Providence VA Medical Center. She is a 2016 Graduate Fellow of the NIH Summer Institute on Randomized Clinical Trials and the recipient of a VHA VISN 1 Career Development Award to study intimate relationship functioning among women who deployed to the U.S. conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Dr. Creech has spent her career working with Veterans and service members recovering from exposure to trauma. The goal of her program of research is to develop and test trauma-focused treatments to improve close relationship and family functioning among Veterans and other populations recovering from trauma. She also has a special interest in women’s health and mental health. Her work is funded by grants from the VA and the DOD. She is also a Master Trainer on the VA roll-out of the Strength at Home Treatment to prevent and end domestic violence in military populations. Funded by grants from the Bob Woodruff Foundation, this work is implementing and evaluating Strength at Home at VA hospitals nationally.
